Nature by design

Midsummer Boulevard, Milton Keynes is said to lie on ancient ley lines that extend out to Campbell Park, one of the city’s many green spaces. These echoes of the land’s historical past are the inspiration for much of MK’s architecture and it was important that Prosper reflected the garden city landscape in our design for intu, with biophilic design elements featuring throughout.

Representing the heart of the city and encapsulating much more than simply a retail environment, our recommendations presented intu Midsummer Place as a community space, a destination with something for everyone.

A different view

With much of MK being low-level, the introduction of a mezzanine space flowing around the dome structure adds a viewing platform that allows visitors to experience the city’s landscapes like they have never seen them before.

The central space is open, acting as a community indoor park for friends and families to meet, workers to relax during lunch breaks, and the perfect place for children’s activities during the weekends and school holidays.

Developed with pedestrians in mind, the external surrounds enjoy green landscaping throughout, promoting the garden city theme.

Dedicated destination

No one goes shopping today without considering their leisure needs as part of the experience. Prosper’s intention with intu Midsumer Place was to create a retail destination that incorporates a memorable F&B experience.

The centre offers a genuine leisure and retail experience, providing a dedicated space that contributes to the community as a whole. Pre-designed, scalable development could also introduce more prestigious anchor tenants, a skywalk activity and a new cinema complex.
